The spillover of the war in Afghanistan into Pakistan is having devastating consequences for the Pakistani people and government. Taliban fighters who fled Afghanistan now control villages and regions in neighbouring Pakistan.

The Government of Pakistan has been unable to regain control of these areas. Its efforts are hampered by local support for the Taliban and by elements in the Pakistani military who have been covertly aiding to the Taliban.
